VISITATIONS AT THE MEDICAL FACILITIES
NEW TEAMS:

Once a new Pet Partner Team has successfully passed the screening process, the team is ready to visit their selected site.Visiting dog with CAP scarf There are a few rules to be followed, and are contained in the Pet Partner Packet supplied to all new teams. CAP also provides a CAP scarf for the pet, and a name tag and teeshirt for the handler, which readily identifies a visiting team. CAP shirts (T's and sweats) are available for Pet Partners who wish to purchase them. At the site, the Captain introduces the new team to other CAP members, acquaints the team with the site layout, explains the mode of visiting (individual rooms/groups), and helps a new team become comfortable with the surroundings.

The CAP visiting season extends from October to June. A Visitation Director heads up the Program. In September, the Director contacts each of CAP's visiting sites, sets up the new season's visitation schedule, and completes the assignment of old and new Pet Partners to a site the team has selected. Teams visit once a month and visiting time is typically one hour. Teams are welcome to select and visit more than one site during the month if they wish. Many like to visit the same site each year. Each site has a Captain who oversees the visiting Pet Partner group during the visitation.

It is important for all Pet Partners to take their commitment to visitations seriously, noting the dates on the calendar and faithfully arriving at designated sites on time. If you are unable to attend for any particular reason you are asked to call your Captain and try to obtain a replacement Pet Partner team. All pets are expected to be well groomed which means bathed and brushed and nails clipped.
